Redlands, CA - Friday June 12th 2026 was a very sad day at the Hyman home. Our dear wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Abby Sue Linett Hyman, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Despite having an indolent disorder for the past 15 months, her condition rapidly changed and her passing was unexpected but mercifully rapid.

She would have celebrated her 82nd birthday next month and was together with her husband Charles (Chuck) for almost 60 years.

She was a woman of deep faith and knew that she lived a blessed life. Abby and Chuck were thankful for each day that they had together.

Abby and Chuck have a most caring son, Jeffrey, who is also a devoted husband and father.

He married an equally wonderful woman, Dana Masser Hyman. Their union produced Ari Benjamin 18, Gabriel Lior 16, and Alexa Mira 13, who brought continuous joy to Abby.

Abby's best female friend and sister, Myrna, and her husband Joe came from Israel to be with Abby during this sad time. Dr. Paul and Mary Lou Hyman, Chuck's brother and sister-in-law, came from New Jersey, and nieces and nephews came from out of state.

Abby was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the oldest child of Alex and Blanche Linett. She was a talented classical pianist who initially attended the University of Michigan School of music. Her orchestral instrument was the bassoon. She graduated from Michigan in 1966 with an education major and music minor.

Luckily for Chuck, on returning to Pittsburgh, Abby was accepted to the master's in education program at the University of Pittsburgh where Chuck was a senior in medical school. They both graduated in 1967 and were married on June 18th of that year. They spent the next two years in Pittsburgh; Abby was a teacher while Chuck trained in pediatrics.

In 1969, Abby accompanied Chuck to Idaho where he served as a base pediatrician at Mountain Home AFB. This is where Jeffrey was born. Abby taught piano while there.

In 1973 Abby and Chuck accepted a pediatric practice position in Redlands where they lived a fulfilled life. Abby received a Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of California, Riverside. Thereafter she graduated from the La Verne College of Law where she was on the Law Review and won two American Jurisprudence Awards.

She practiced law in San Bernardino and was active in the County Bar Association, serving as its president from 2000 to 2001.

Abby participated in various charitable organizations in Redlands, including Bonnes Meres, Assistance League, the Board of Directors of Valley Preparatory School and the Redlands Winter Concert Society, later the Board of Directors of the Redlands Symphony Organization.

In recent years Abby played an active role in the Chabad of Riverside. Abby was well cared for spiritually by her dear friends Rabbi Shmuel and Rebbetzin Tziporra Fuss, who were at her side during her final days.

We want to thank her physician Dr. Darlene Rae and the Redlands Community Hospital Hospice team for the superlative care that Abby received which allowed her ease of transition.

We want to thank Chabad of Riverside, and the many families and friends that provided us with all of our meals this week as well as those who extended their condolences.

Abby is survived by her husband Dr. Charles Hyman of Redlands, son Jeffrey Hyman and family of Tiburon, CA, her sister Myrna Strapp of Jerusalem, Israel as well as nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.
