Redlands, Ca - Donald "Pat" Vieten, beloved partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother & friend, passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born in Riverside, California on December 11, 1935 to Clarence & Edna Vieten, he was older brother to Robert "Bob" Vieten.

Pat attended the University of Redlands and then USC, working summers at Kaiser Steel to put himself through dental school. He initially served as a dentist for the US Army in Germany in the early 1960's and then practiced Dentistry in Redlands for over 35 years.

Growing up, he was a boy scout and earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man.

He loved music. He studied piano for years becoming quite accomplished. He sang in the choir while attending the University of Redlands. Later in life he sang in the Community Chorus traveling to various locations, including Carnegie Hall, to perform.

He was a local member of Kiwanis for over 60 years. He loved the fellowship of working the numerous service-oriented activities including the annual pancake breakfasts. He served on the scholarship committee and was always quite impressed with the applicants.

He initiated the Labyrinth project at the University of Redlands wanting to provide a means of meditation and reflection to everyone.

He loved traveling; visiting India, Peru, Costa Rica and once served as a photographer for a group trip to Egypt led by Zahi Hawass. He loved back-packing and hiking in the Sierras. He took his family on long camping trips every summer, visiting National Parks and other interesting locations all over the United States instilling a deep appreciation for nature in all of his children.

He is survived by his partner Linda Anderson, his brother Robert Vieten and his children Carol Ruebsamen and Richard Vieten. His son, David Vieten, preceded him in death. He has 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Pat will be held at 3:30p.m. Saturday April 18, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church 100 Cajon St. Redlands, Ca. 92373
