Redlands, CA - Dorothy Mae Gambach Somers passed away in November of 2025 at the age of 100 and 1/2 years.
She is survived by her children Tom (Olga), Ann (Werner) and Barbara (Art); her grandchildren Ben, Jessica, Eric (Karen), Tim (Casey), Katie (Todd), Mary (Noah); her great-grandchildren Gavin, Emmett, Gemma, Deacon, Parker, and Phoebe.
Dorothy was born in Lohrville, Iowa in March of 1925. She married the love of her life, Willford (Bill) Somers in 1945. She received a Bachelor's degree from Iowa State College and Master's degree from the University of Redlands.
Dorothy and Bill moved the family to Redlands in 1968 where Dorothy taught in the Redlands Unified School District. They both were active in the First Baptist Church of Redlands, the Redlands Peace Group, and enjoyed square dancing.
Dorothy was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Redlands where she served on the worship commission and sang in the choir. She was a longtime member of the Redlands Cosmos Club and Community Chorus of Redlands.
A service in Dorothy's memory will be held at the First Baptist Church of Redlands on Sat., March 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on the church YouTube channel.
