Elizabeth Walk (Betty Lou) Obituary
Redlands, CA - Our beloved mother and grandmother, Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Walck, passed away in the early hours of Easter morning on April 5, 2026.
She was born on November 27, 1941, to Cora Elizabeth and August Caminiti, and was the second oldest of four children: Judy Lewis, David Caminiti, and Carolyn Marasco. Betty pursued her passion for education at UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, and Cal State San Bernardino, dedicating her career to supporting both general and special education students. Betty was a member of the Daisy Chain and graduated from Redlands High School in 1959. She began her teaching career instructing 1st-3rd grades at Yucaipa Elementary before transitioning to become a middle school special education teacher in the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District. During her years in education, she enjoyed bowling every Thursday in the teacher's league and spending countless hours watching her daughters compete on the Redlands Swim Team. She also advocated for her colleagues as the Grievance Chair and a member of the Bargaining Team.
Upon retiring, Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and giving back to her community. Her favorite activities were gardening, dancing, making porcelain dolls, quilting, reading, serving as a Spirit Singer at First United Methodist Church, and starting her mornings with coffee and crossword puzzles with her dear friend next door—brought her great joy. Betty continued to make a difference in the lives of others through her community involvement. She was an active member and past president (2008) of the Assistance League and volunteered her time supporting programs close to her heart, including Operation School Bell, Low-Cost Dental Center, Kindness 4 Victims, and Teens-To-Be-Seen. She also served as the historian of Alpha Delta Kappa and was an officer in P.E.O. and a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
Betty was an incredible mother and devoted grandmother who never missed a sporting event, dance recital, or school activity.
She is survived by her daughters, Kristen Williams (Vance) and Kathryn Walck; and her cherished grandchildren, Allie and Austin Williams, and Emmie and Addie Walck. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26, at First United Methodist Church. Additional details regarding the time will be shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her honor to the Assistance League of Redlands or the Alzheimer's Association.
