Redlands, CA - Lawrence "Larry" Ervin Dwight, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at his home in Redlands. He was 79.
Born in Tupelo, MS on January 24, 1947, he later moved to Oklahoma City, OK where he attended Crooked Oak High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He was discharged as a SP5 in 1970. Upon his return, he attended the University of Oklahoma and received his bachelor's degree in accounting in 1973.
While in college he met and fell in love with Karen Speckman. They married in 1971 and had three daughters. He returned to school to earn his MBA from Central State University in Oklahoma.
Larry worked as an auditor with the Air Force Audit Agency for more than 30 years, beginning his career at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Larry and family moved to Redlands, California in 1987 where he worked as an auditor first at Norton Air Force Base, and then at March Air Force Base, until he retired in 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter Linda Cotton and husband James, daughter Laura Dugan and husband John, brother Dennis Dwight, stepmother Mary Tieken, stepsister Joann Sloan, and grandchildren Karen Buel, Jonah Cotton, Ian Dugan, Qrow Dugan, Shelby Cotton, Chris Cotton and Elizabeth Cotton. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy Dwight and Ervin Tieken, sister Linda Dwight, and daughter Lesley Dwight.
He was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 28 at the First Presbyterian Church of Redlands, 100 Cajon St., Redlands. A reception will immediately follow. A private interment will be held at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery.
