Redlands, CA - Lucretia Moore Irving was born on Leap Day in 1936 and died at home on June 18, 2026, at age 22 (actually 90). She graduated from Redlands High School in 1953 and received her bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1957. She began work as an inheritance tax preparer in 1958 and was appointed a State Probate Referee in 1975, a position she held until her retirement in 1997.

Lucretia's father was William G. Moore (Redlands native and Redlands Daily Facts publisher for 39 years). Lucretia's paternal grandparents were Lucretia Prendergast Moore (who moved to Redlands in 1893 and graduated from Redlands High School in 1898) and Paul W. Moore, who came to Redlands in 1897 to work at the Redlands Daily Facts, which his own father William Graff Moore had purchased in 1895.

Josephine (Jo), Lucretia's mother, first visited Redlands with her family in the early 1900s. Lucretia's maternal grandmother, Mary J. Repplier Cook, moved the family permanently to Redlands after Jo's father, Edward Bailey Cook, died during the 1918 influenza pandemic.

She married Thomas (Tam) Bolce Irving in 1957. The Irvings and the Moores were longtime family friends. Her parents visited Tam's parents, Ruth and Les Irving of Berkeley, while on their honeymoon in Northern California when Tam was eight months old. Tam died in 2010.

In 2010, her grandson, Bailey Bussiere, was given an assignment to write about Old People. He wrote "My Grams likes to take walks early in the morning. She is strong, and loves to make and drink orange juice. She is 18 years old (she was born on February 29th, the leap year). She is good at finding yummy clams from the gritty sand with her toes. She is nice but can be strict, and loves to go to the pool (Fifth Ave). Her favorite game is Rummikub. She does a lot of volunteer work for Inland Harvest, which delivers excess food. Finally she is modern. She loves her phone and laptop, and loves to email. My Grams is cool."

Lucretia started volunteering with Inland Harvest in the late 1990s and was an active volunteer until her death. She served on the board and was the volunteer coordinator.

Among the highlights of her life were trips to Joshua Tree, San Luis Gonzaga in Baja, and Wawona, along with the many adventures she shared with her family. She truly loved helping people and could often be found delivering food, visiting friends, or welcoming others into her home.

She is survived by her brother, Graff Moore (Lori); her children, Janet Irving (Tonis Niilus) of Redlands, Peter Irving (Donna) of Alamo, Joanne Snowden (Paul) of Redlands, Sidney Irving (Drew Scott), and Wendy Bussiere (Deane) of Santa Cruz; eight grandchildren: Nicole and James Snowden, Claire Grahm, Maddy Noble, Aiyana Turpen-Scott, Bailey, Bolce, and Graff Bussiere; and five great-grandchildren: Sam, Oscar, Elias, Henley, and Taylor.
